Local Community College Wins Workforce Development Award
Motlow State Community College won Community Colleges of Appalachia’s 2020 Workforce Development Award for its Advanced Robotics Training Center, a state-of-the-art facility that opened in McMinnville in April 2019. The center provides world-class training in robotic, automation and advanced manufacturing systems, and is a workforce training and development hub that enables students to earn an Associate degree in mechatronics with a concentration in robotics and non-credit students to earn industry-recognized certificates in only four days.
Motlow’s Advanced Robotics Training Center is a major resource for its entire region, creating new career opportunities for students and training needed for existing and future advanced manufacturing industries. Business, industry, education and civic leaders from across Middle Tennessee participated in the center’s opening last year. » more
Manchester, Tennessee Industrial Park Site Gains Select TN Certification
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe today announced four new Select Tennessee Certified Sites, including a 273.69 acre site in the Manchester Industrial Park. Launched in 2012, the Select Tennessee program helps communities prepare industrial sites for private investment and job creation. The program sets rigorous standards to give companies detailed and reliable information during the site selection process. » more
TE Connectivity Announces Expansion in
Coffee County
TE Connectivity plans to add 100 jobs in Coffee County over the next three years and invest $15.7 million in the expansion. With this expansion, TE Connectivity plans on updating its current facility in Tullahoma and adding new equipment to its operations. The site expansion will add approximately 100 new jobs, including assembly and molding operators, maintenance technicians, engineers and supervisors. The Tullahoma site produces connectors that empower heavy construction, mining and agriculture equipment, as well as commercial vehicles. »

EnableComp to Establish Facility in Tullahoma
EnableComp will invest nearly $1 million to open an office in Tullahoma, where it will create 200 jobs over the next five years. The company’s Tullahoma operation will process medical insurance claims from submissions to appeals. EnableComp will locate its operations at 1400 Cedar Lane in Tullahoma. »

Coffee County School Systems Awarded Funds
for CTE Programs
Coffee County Schools and Manchester City Schools have both been awarded funds from the Tennessee Department of Education for the implementation of career and technical education programs. Manchester City Schools will use the money for the Middle School CTE program and CTE equipment. Coffee County Schools will use the funds for purchasing measurement equipment.
